Tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 19th, GCSD will join other districts across the state to participate in Dads Take Your Child to School Day. This fatherhood engagement event began in 2007 and is an outreach initiative to help increase the involvement of fathers and father figures in their children’s schools. Consistent with the approach promoted by Westchester County legislators, we also recognize that not all families are the same, we welcome any father figure, mom or caregiver to participate. Please note that each student may only have one person attend and that each visitor must check-in at the school’s security office with a valid ID. Because this process takes time, we encourage you to account for that in your visit.
Each building has its own plans for the event; they are summarized here for your planning purposes:
ECP
- Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the teacher, help your child hang up their coat, and get settled at their desk or table.
- To help with separation anxiety, we kindly ask that after a brief goodbye, you leave within about five (5) minutes to ensure a smooth transition for all of our Pre-K students.
LF Jackson
- Visitors will have the opportunity to walk their child to their class, meet the teacher, and spend a few minutes with them.
Highview
- Once registered with security, visitors will remain outside while students enter Highview.
- When the song begins to play at 8:45, visitors will be escorted to their classroom and are welcome to visit for as long as possible until 10:00.
- Principal Mastrangelo will host a brief meet & greet in the cafeteria at 10:00 am. Light Refreshments will be provided.
RJ Bailey
- Visitors will have the opportunity to walk their child to their homebase class, meet the teacher, and spend a few minutes with them.
Woodlands
- Visitors will have the opportunity to visit at the school for as long as they are able and will have the opportunity to get to know administrators, faculty and staff.
Thank you in advance for your interest and attention to our security procedures. We very much look forward to seeing you there.
