Woodlands Teacher Begins her Career by Returning to the Falcon Nest

This is Jasmine Bradwell’s first year teaching at Woodlands Middle High School, but she is certainly no stranger to the Greenburgh Central School District. “I was just amazed on the first day (of the Superintendent’s Conference) to see my former teachers,” she said. “I saw Ms. Rraci and I thought, wow - and there’s my third grade teacher.”  According to Ms. Bradwell, all of her former teachers are still here, and she recognizes the privilege to be among such great company. “The teachers here have a genuine love for the students,” she said. “The bar is always set high, and they encourage students to reach for the stars. They not only want students to be successful in school, they are also supportive outside the classroom and beyond. It’s just like being a part of a family.”

Ms.Bradwell grew up in Greenburgh and spent most of her years in the Greenburgh Central School District before moving to New Rochelle, where she finished out her last three years of high school. After high school, she attended SUNY Brockport in Rochester, NY, for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. Ms. Bradwell knew she had wanted to teach since eighth grade. “My science teacher at Woodlands, Ms. Sheer - now Ms. Charez - inspired me to become a teacher. I first thought I wanted to teach science, so I entered college as a biology major, and then I eventually switched to physical education.”  Ms. Bradwell has a masters degree in general and adapted physical education, which allows her to teach students with any needs or disabilities. During her time in Rochester, Ms. Bradwell volunteered to coach a wheelchair track team on the weekends and ran a camp for students who are blind. Post-graduate school, Ms. Bradwell taught general and adapted physical education at an intermediate school in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District in Rochester, NY

As a former Falcon herself, Ms. Bradwell is looking forward to track, cross country, and volleyball coaching opportunities at WMHS. Being involved in sports provides so many social, emotional, and mental benefits. They also provide soft skills - such as problem solving, team building, and accountability.” In addition to physical education and coaching, Ms. Bradwell will be teaching an 11th grade sports medicine class.

“I feel like it was a one in a million chance to be able to come back and teach here. “I’ve come full circle, and being able to teach everyday with my former teacher Mr.Caulfield is really special. I am overwhelmed with joy,” she said. “Community is a really big aspect here. I’m so proud to be from Greenburgh. There’s so much talent and success that happens here.”
