OVERVIEW
Dear Greenburgh Families,
On behalf of the Greenburgh School District and Whitsons School Nutrition, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our students to the 2024–2025 school year! We hope you enjoyed your summer and are ready and excited to be back in school. We are pleased to be your school district’s food service provider. To help prepare for your child’s return to school, we want to share important news that will affect many families:
***This year, we have been approved for the Community Eligibility Provision, a meal program option offered by the United States Agricultural Department (USDA) that allows us to serve school breakfast and lunch at no charge to all enrolled students, regardless of financial condition.***

REAL MEALS™ BY WHITSONS Real Meals™ By Whitsons
brings a fresh vibe to our K-12 meal solution.
These meals are made from fresh ingredient the way nature intended, and they fuel the minds of our customers in a fun and tasty way! Plus, our interactive healthy eating program motivates and inspires students to consider the many benefits that wholesome meals and physical activity have on their growing bodies and minds. It’s all about making the connection between food and wellness. Look for Real Meals in your school this fall.
At elementary schools, our award-winning Nutrition Safari® program will introduce younger students to lovable animal characters to teach them about selecting healthy choices from each different food groups for a well-balanced diet. The program’s mission is to encourage students to develop lifelong healthy eating practices.
At secondary schools, monthly Flaves and special event Pop-up Shops will feature trendy menus items and activities to engage older students. Whitsons has also invested in professional signage and merchandising that creates a food court-style environment. It’s like going out to lunch without ever leaving the building. Our goal is to entice students to make lifelong nutritious and delicious meal choices.
As we reopen for the new school year, we encourage every student to fuel up with a FREE breakfast and lunch meal each day so they can be energized and prepared to succeed throughout the day, in and out of the classroom. One thing that you can do is to encourage your students to eat breakfast and lunch every day. The demands of the classroom can be difficult for children who are hungry, as you know. Studies indicate students who eat breakfast can concentrate better, earn higher grades, and have fewer illnesses*. We look forward to working for you to create a healthy learning environment for all students. If you’d like more information, please check the district website for the latest news and updates.
Sincerely,
Pat Pitteli
